Tequila Bacon and Chill

It’s time to relax with summer cocktails and to up your bacon game. That’s why I’ve come up with this chilled bacon cocktail recipe, perfect for any last minute barbeques and to celebrate the last throes of the season. Instead of the typical maple syrup that punctuates a lot of these cocktail recipes, I’ve swapped in a healthier agave syrup that’s complemented by the smokiness of ButcherBox uncured bacon morsels. Top it all of with off with a slice of candied bacon

Ingredients

Basil Bacon Jalapeño Simple Syrup

  • 4 slices ButcherBox Bacon cooked until crispy, crumbled
  • ½ ea jalapeño pepper sliced and seeds removed
  • ½ c agave syrup
  • ½ c water
  • 3 Tbsp fresh basil roughly chopped

Tequila Bacon Cocktail

  • 3 oz tequila
  • 2 slices cucumber
  • 4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz Basil Bacon Jalapẽno Simple Syrup

Garnish

  • 1 Tbsp Tajin for the rim of cocktail glass
  • 2 ea fresh basil leaves
  • 2 slices ButcherBox Bacon cooked until crispy, crumbled

Instructions

Basil Bacon Jalapeño Simple Syrup

  • Mix all ingredients for simple syrup together in a sauce pot. Simmer for 15 minutes. Strain and chill.

Tequila Bacon Cocktail

  • In a cocktail shaker muddle cucumber slices. Add remaining ingredients, ice and shake vigorously.
  • Salt the rim of the cocktail glass with Tajin. Strain over ice cubes. Garnish with basil leaves and crumbled bacon. Cheers!
