Ingredients
- 1 package of Chicken & Mozzarella Ravioli frozen
- 2 tbsps olive oil
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsps tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- salt and pepper to taste
- grated parmesan cheese for garnish
- fresh basil leaves for garnish, optional
Instructions
Boil the Ravioli:
- Start by bringing a large pot of water to a boil. Boil the ravioli for 4 to 5 minutes until they reach your desired tenderness. Once the ravioli are cooked, drain them in a colander and set them aside.
Prepare the Red Sauce:
- In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the finely chopped onion to the skillet and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until translucent.
- Stir in the tomato paste and continue to cook for another 2 minutes. This will allow the tomato paste to caramelize slightly, enhancing the flavor of the sauce.
- Now, add the can of crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will help the flavors meld together and the sauce to thicken.
Combine Ravioli and Sauce:
- Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, add the cooked Chicken & Mozzarella Ravioli to the skillet. Gently toss them in the sauce to coat evenly.
Serve:
- Plate the ravioli with a generous scoop of the tomato and tomato paste-based red sauce over the top.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
